Our Journey

The consortium of M/s Bothra Shipping Services Private Ltd (BSSPL) and M/s Ripley & Co. Stevedoring & Handling Private Limited (RSHPL ) jointly won the concession for Mechanization of Existing Berth no. 05 (Erstwhile Berth No. 4B) through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis at the Haldia Dock Complex, Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata. The consortium has formed an SPV, titled Ganges Bulk Terminal Private Limited (GBTPL), journey begins with Award of Concession received on 20th December 2024.

Preliminary Work ( Completed ) :
  • Topo Survey, Soil Investigation – Completed
  • Identification of Route for laying 33 KV cable – Completed
  • Preparation of Project Layout, Design Basis Report, General Arrangement Drawings, Cost Estimation.
  • Traffic study, financial modelling, tariff setting.
Construction of Facilities :
  • Civil Works: Tendering action in progress
  • Electro-Mechanical Works: EPC contractor identified, Work Order to be issued after LOA
  • PIMS: Tendering action in progress
  • Mobile Harbour Cranes: Contractual arrangements with Liebherr in place

Our Milestone

The concession period is for 30 years, which is divided into 2 phases – Phase I of 30 months is the construction phase where cargo operations are allowed in semi-mechanized mode and Phase II is for 27.5 years where the cargo handling operations will be fully mechanized.

The Concessioning Authority (i.e., the Port) shall collect the Railway-related (haulage & terminal) charges and vessel-related charges (Pilotage, Port Dues and Berth Hire) from the importer/exporter or ship’s agents.

Significant Dates and Events:
a) Timeline for fulfilment of condition precedent as per the Concession agreement is 180 days w.e.f. 20.12.2024.LOA considered.
b) As per Concession Agreement, for completion of mechanization, the timeline provided is 30 months from the date of Award. Tentatively, by December 2027 mechanization project will be completed.
c) We are expecting arrival of two new HMCs by September/October 2025.
d) Completion of all construction including mechanization is expected by December 2027.
e) We intend to commence cargo handling at Berth No.5, through fully mechanized system from Q4, 2027–28.
